On April 25, 2013, George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, formally opened the George W. Bush Presidential Center, known colloquially as The Bush Center, at the Southern Methodist University (SMU) in Dallas, Texas.

According to an article in Politico, between 2009 and 2015, Bush gave at least 200 paid speeches, earning between $100,000 and $175,000 per event. The majority of these speeches were made during private events in the U.S., Canada and Asia, under strict confidentiality rules surrounding content and payment.
